Another photographer I admore is Eddie Adams. He is most famous for his photograph of General Nguyen Ngoc Loan shooting a Vietcong prisoner durin the Vietnam War. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 1969. I appreciate the way he didn't hold back when taking this photo. There are many ways he could have taken this photograph that wouldn't have been as disturbing but he wanted his viewers to realize the extent of what was going on.
He took a number of other photographs that are equally unnerving. This one is of a protestor who was accidently shot during a demonstration.

ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting post. Do you think he should have interfered with these violent acts instead of documenting them? Did he have a moral obligation to do so? Or, was it just as meaningful to pass on these images to the rest of the world.
